Production Assistant Manager

About the Job
We are seeking a hands-on Production Assistant Manager to support day-to-day manufacturing operations and serve as second in command to the CM Manager. This role is ideal for a visible, decisive leader who can set priorities, support supervisors and team leads, solve operational problems, and step directly into production when business needs require it.

The successful candidate will combine strong floor presence with sound judgment, accountability, and a continuous-improvement mindset to help the team meet daily performance, staffing, quality, and delivery goals.

Work hours are Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm with occasional Friday hours, when necessary to meet our customer demands.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as second in command to the CM Manager and provide coverage when the manager is unavailable.
  • Maintain a strong floor presence and provide hands-on leadership and operational support.
  • Act as a working manager and assist directly with production when business needs require it.
  • Provide supervisors with clear daily direction, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Serve as a primary escalation point for supervisors and team leads.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, support changeovers, and respond to other production needs.
  • Monitor daily performance, work in process, staffing, and operator qualifications.
  • Help prevent unplanned overtime and expedites through proactive staffing and production decisions.
  • Reinforce expectations, accountability, and constructive feedback across the operation.
  • Support supervisors in addressing performance, conduct, and attendance concerns.
  • Take ownership of routine operational decisions and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Identify and help implement continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Train new supervisors and team leads and assist with training new associates as needed.
  • Conduct routine performance reviews with supervisors and team leads.

Qualifications:
  • Previous leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead from the floor and work alongside the team.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to coach employees, provide constructive feedback, and reinforce accountability.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across all levels of the operation.
  • Working knowledge of production flow, staffing, changeovers, and performance monitoring.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Drug Screening and Background checks are required.
